American film editor, John Wright was known for several movies. Some of his popular movies include Convoy (1978), The Running Man (1987), Necessary Roughness (1991), Broken Arrow (1996), X-Men (2000), Glory Road, and Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk (2008).

He was nominated for the 1989 Emmy Award for Best Editing for the movie, My Name Is Bill W. He also received an Oscar nomination for Speed by Jan de Bont, and The Hunt for Red October, one of the movies he edited for John McTiernan.

Wright was also known for editing The Passion of Christ (2004) and Apocalypto (2006) which he collaborated with Director Mel Gibson.
He began his career as an editor at KABC-TV right after graduating from Van Nuys High School. He also worked on National Geographic and Jacques Costeau specials during the early stages of his career.
Wright died of prostate and bone cancer at the age of 79. He reportedly died in his home in Calabasas on April 20, 2023.
