Canadian singer and songwriter, Gordon Lightfoot became popular when his song If You Could Read My Mind debuted on the US Billboard Chart in 1971.

He had earlier released two singles in 1962 including (Remember Me) I’m the One, recorded at RCA in Nashville and produced by Chet Atkins. Some of his earlier songs also include For Lovin’ Me, Steel Rail Blues, and Ribbon of Darkness which debuted at No. 1 on the U.S Country chart in 1965.

Born on November 17, 1938, Gordon Lightfoot started his career at a young age as a means to support himself. He sang and produced commercial jingles during the initial stages of his career.
He released his album Solo in 2020, after over 50 years of releasing his debut album. He was considered by many as Canada’s greatest songwriter.
Lightfoot was announced dead on Monday, May 1, 2023. He died of natural causes at the age of 84. However, he had suffered severe health issues the previous month.
