Barbara Young was a well-known English actress. Barbara Young previously appeared in Coronation Street in the early 1960s, 1980s, and 1990s.

She returned to Coronation Street in February 2007 as an old friend of Rita Sullivan named Doreen Fenwick until December of that year.
Aside from her time on Coronation Street, Barbara Young also appeared in the 1970 film Jane Eyre as Miss Scatcherd, as Eileen Clancy in the 1975 TV series Looking for Clancy, as Dot Wilmington in the TV series Hazell, and as On Giant’s Shoulders for the BBC in 1979.

She is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Agrippina, the future Emperor Nero’s mother, in the landmark 1976 BBC serial I, Claudius.
Young joined the regular cast as Nora Batty’s sister, Stella, after Kathy Staff left the show in 2008. From 10 to 13 April 2012, she appeared in Hollyoaks as Mags.
Barbara Young passed away peacefully at the age of 92 in a Cambridge hospital surrounded by her family on 27 April 2023. Barbara’s cause of death is unknown, however, she had been in hospital over the last few days.
