Katherine Heigl was cast in her most high-profile role to date in 2005, as medical intern Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens on the ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

Katherine Heigl reportedly did not show up for work on the show on March 11, 2010, and Heigl and series creator Shonda Rhimes subsequently agreed to immediately release Heigl from her contract.

As a result, Heigl’s appearance on Grey’s Anatomy on January 21 2010, was her final appearance of the season and, thus far, in the series. Katherine Heigl stated that she left the show to focus on her family rather than her film career.

Heigl won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy on September 16, 2007.
