Matthew Bergeron started his career in high school. He attended Cegep de Thetford and played for their gridiron football team before going to college.
He attended Syracuse University, and as a freshman, he played in all 12 college games with five starts at right tackle. He also started all 11 of the Orange’s games during his sophomore season.
Bergeron started his sophomore season as a right tackle before moving to left tackle for the last eight games. He was named honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in 2021.
He was also named a team captain entering his junior year in 2022 and was voted second-team All-ACC by the end of the season. In 2023, he also attended the 2023 Senior Bowl.
Bergeron is set to be drafted in the NFL 2023 as he has been considered by many as the No. 1 available offensive tackle and N0. 23 player entering Round 2 of the 2023 National Football League Draft on Friday, April 28, 2023.
