MoneySign Suede jail: Why was MoneySign Suede in a California prison?

Rapper MoneySign Suede died Tuesday, after he was stabbed in a shower at a California prison, authorities and his attorney said. According to a statement from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, MoneySign Suede, born Jaime Brugada Valdez, was found in the shower area of the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday. He was 22 years.

MoneySign Suede was arrested numerous times and had many run-ins with the law prior to his demise.

For instance, in June 2022, while he was performing at a warehouse party in Boyle Heights, there was a shooting that left three people dead and four more hurt.

Two of the deceased, Randy Tyson and Daniel Dunbar, who were 25 and 27, respectively, were recognized, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported at the time. The identity of the third victim was kept a secret.

Following the incident, Suede expressed grief for those who lost their lives.

MoneySign Suede was serving a 32-month sentence for a pair of gun charges in Riverside County.

He was also charged with possessing a firearm in Los Angeles County, but he had already entered a plea and was anticipating a two-year term that would follow his Riverside convictions.

He turned himself in in December and was finally taken to Soledad State Prison.
