Glenn Woodward Davis was a Los Angeles Rams professional football player. From 1943 to 1946, he played college football for the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he was known as “Mr. Outside.”

He was a consensus All-American three times and won the Heisman Trophy, Sporting News Player of the Year, and Associated Press Athlete of the Year in 1946.

Glenn Davis signed with the Rams for the 1950 season. Davis was a productive player and was named to the 1950 Pro Bowl based on his 42 receptions for 592 yards and 416 yards on 88 carries; he had seven total touchdowns.

Glenn Davis moved to Texas after leaving the NFL to work in the oil industry but returned to California a few years later.

He became the Los Angeles Times’ special events director, organising and directing the newspaper’s charity fundraising events. He worked in this capacity until his retirement in 1987.

Davis died of prostate cancer on March 9, 2005, at the age of 80, in La Quinta, California. He was laid to rest in West Point Cemetery.
