Yash Chopra was the founding chairman of the film production and distribution company Yash Raj Film. He received several awards, including six National Film Awards and eight Filmfare Awards.
Yash Chopra is regarded as one of the best Hindi filmmakers, best known and admired for his female-centred romantic films.

Yash Chopra was diagnosed with dengue fever on October 13, 2012, and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai. Yash Chopra died on October 21st as a result of multiple organ failures. He was 80 years old.
Pamela Chopra died at the age of 74 in Mumbai on Thursday, April 20 2023. Her death was announced by her family in a statement on Thursday morning. No cause of death was given.
She also co-wrote the script for the 1997 film Dil To Pagal Hai with her husband, Yash Chopra. She also worked as a costume designer for films such as Silsila and Sawaal.
