Her death was announced by her family in a statement on Thursday morning. No cause of death was given.
Pamela Chopra was born Pamela Singh, the daughter of Indian Army officer Mohinder Singh. She was the eldest of three children, with two younger brothers.
Chopra attended several army schools because her father was stationed in various remote locations throughout India. Simi Garewal, the actress, was her cousin.

Pamela Chopra worked as a singer, writer, dress designer, and co-producer on many Yash Raj Films. Pamela Chopra was most recently seen in the Netflix documentary The Romantics on YRF, where she discussed her husband’s career in film.
Pamela Chopra sang several iconic songs for Yash Raj films. Pamela Chopra was also credited as the writer for Kabhie Kabhie, in addition to her singing credits.
She also co-wrote the script for the 1997 film Dil To Pagal Hai with her husband, Yash Chopra. She also worked as a costume designer for films such as Silsila and Sawaal.
