Bud Shuster and his wife Patricia Rommel Shuster had five children: Peggy Statler (Paul), Congressman Bill Shuster, Debbie King (Greg), Bob Shuster (Kelly), and Gia Dixon (Grove).

Their mother passed away in 2016 peacefully in her sleep at home after brief Hospice care. Meanwhile, their father also passed away on April 19, 2023 at age 91.
Their father died two weeks after fracturing his hip, which led to complications, according to Rebekah Sungala a close family friend.
Having succeeded his father in the southern Pennsylvania congressional seat, Bill Shuster is the most popular among the children of the Shusters.

A member of the Republican Party, Bill announced his retirement from Congress in Jan. 2018, at the end of his eighth term, and did not run for re-election in 2018.
Bill graduated from Dickinson College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and in History.
He was also a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity while at Dickinson. He then earned a Master of Business Administration from American University.
Prior to politics, Bill worked on his family farm in Bedford County and at Goodyear Tire, Rubber Corporation, and Bandag Incorporated.
Bill also owned and operated an automobile dealership in East Freedom, Pennsylvania.
