Dave Frost Cause of Death

Former major league pitcher Dave Frost died recently. His death was announced by the Angels on April 19, 2023. He was 70 years old. His cause of death was not revealed.

Dave Frost grew up in Long Beach and attended Stanford. The White Sox selected the 6’6″ pitcher in the 18th round of the 1974 draft.

Three years later, he pitched his way into the major leagues with Chicago. Frost made his MLB debut against the Los Angeles Dodgers as part of a four-game rookie season.

During the 1977-78 offseason, he was traded to California. Dave Frost spent the majority of his career in Southern California.

He pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1978 to 1981, leading the team with 239 1/3 innings pitched in 36 appearances in 1979.

Frost had a 3.57 ERA and 12 complete games that year. He pitched 445 1/3 innings for the Angels over four seasons, posting a 3.90 ERA and striking out 181 batters.

Frost became a free agent following the 1981 season. He signed with the Royals and spent one injury-plagued season with them.

He retired from playing at the age of 30. Over the course of his six-year MLB career, the right-hander appeared for three different teams. He pitched 550 2/3 innings with a 4.10 ERA, 222 strikeouts, and 33 wins.
