Anna J. Stanley was the wife of Charles Frazier Stanley an American evangelical pastor, author, and televangelist who made a significant impact on the religious landscape of the United States.

Anna J. Stanley, Stanley’s wife of more than 40 years, filed for divorce on June 22, 1993, following their separation in the spring of 1992.
During that time, the Moody Radio Network station in Atlanta (then-WAFS) took Stanley’s daily broadcast off the air, concluding that there was no sign of reconciliation. The Stanleys were legally separated when the final divorce papers were filed on February 16, 2000. On May 11, 2000, a judge signed the final divorce decree.

Their divorce sparked a minor squabble within the Southern Baptist Convention. The situation was complicated by reports that Stanley had stated that if he divorced, he would resign as pastor.

He stated at the time of their separation that he did not believe it would result in divorce; however, when it did, his church members overwhelmingly voted to keep him as pastor. Stanley was allowed to remain as pastor as long as he did not remarry, according to the bylaws of First Baptist Atlanta. Anna J. Stanley passed away on November 10, 2014.
