Meet Bob Suter
Bob Suter is the father of Ryan Suter.
Bob was born Robert Allen Suter on May 16, 1957 in Madison, Wisconsin, United States to Marlowe and Delores Suter.
Bob graduated from Madison East High School and subsequently attended the University of Wisconsin where he won a National Championship in 1977.
He was a member of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” Hockey Team that won the gold medal.

Bob signed with the Minnesota North Stars as an unrestricted free agent in 1981 but spent the entire 1981–82 season in the Central Hockey League with the Nashville South Stars farm team. He retired in 1982 without playing a single game in the NHL.
Following Bob’s retirement, he launched a sporting goods store called Gold Medal Sports. He also coached youth hockey in Madison and became a part-owner and director of Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, Wisconsin.

Bob died on September 9, 2014, of a heart attack suffered at Capitol Ice Arena. In July 2015, Capitol Ice Arena was renamed Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena in his memory.
Bob Suter and his ex-wife Diane Suter Hyames had three children; Ryan Suter, Justin Suter and Garrett Suter. He was married to Mary Suter at the time of his demise.

Diane Suter Hyames is the mother of Ryan Suter.
She is a native of Madison, Wisconsin.
Diane Suter Hyames joined the Capitols as the Director of Hockey Operations in June 2015.
She is responsible for hockey operations, team travel, and merchandise.
Diane Suter Hyames and her ex-husband Bob Suter had three children; Ryan Suter, Justin Suter and Garrett Suter.
