In 2021, an investigation was launched after several complaints from members of the SNP in regards to mishandling over 600K GBP in donation given to party to fund campaigns.

Sturgeon shared that the money had not missing, but it has been appropriated into independent accounts.

Money hasn’t gone missing; all money goes through the SNP accounts independently all fully audited. We don’t hold separate accounts – we’re under no legal requirement to do that. Our accounts are managed on a cashflow basis, but every penny we raise to support the campaign for independence will be spent on the campaign for independence,” Sturgeon said.
