Chris Smith and Petara Cordero were driving westbound when his 2019 Lamborghini blew a tyre. According to police, this caused his car to veer left and collide with the centre median wall.
The couple were standing outside the car when a passing 2017 Mazda 3 struck Cordero and the open passenger-side door of the Lamborghini, police said.
After Cleveland EMS transported her to Fairview Hospital, she was pronounced dead. Chris Smith and Cordero planned to marry on July 2, 2020. Petara Cordero had worked as an event ambassador for Topgolf.
Chris Smith passed away on April 17, 2023, according to his high school alma mater. At this time, the cause of death is unknown.
