Award-winning journalists and publishers Najam Sethi and Jugnu Mohsin, both of whom are also politicians are the parents of Ali Sethi.

Najam Aziz Sethi is a Pakistani journalist, businessman and cricket administrator, currently serving as the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board.
Najam also is the founder of The Friday Times and Vanguard Books. He has served as a caretaker Federal Minister of Pakistan and Chief Minister of Punjab.
In 1999, Sethi gave an interview to a team for the BBC television show Correspondent, which was planning to report on corruption in the Nawaz Sharif government.

Syeda Maimanat Mohsin, commonly known as Jugnu Mohsin, is a Pakistani politician and journalist.
Jugnu Mohsin was an independent member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab until 31 March 2022 and then joined PML on 1 April 2022. Her term ended on 14 June 2023.
Sethi is the brother of actor and author Mira Sethi and nephew to British-Pakistani writer Moni Mohsin.
