British singer and record producer, Labrinth was born Timothy Lee McKenzie. According to him, his stage name would have been Dappa D, The Candleman, or anything more ‘swaggy,’ until he chanced upon the name ‘Labrinth’ when he was flipping through the pages of a dictionary.

“I actually tried to learn the dictionary at one point. It didn’t work, I only got through the first few pages. So it’s a wonder I’m not called Abacus,” he said.

Is Labrinth Jamaica?
Labrinth is of Jamaican descent but he was not born in Jamaica. Both parents are both Jamaicans. He was born and raised in Hackney, London.
He is one of nine siblings who come from a family of music lovers. He has a brother named Mac who is a music producer. Mac helped him and introduced him to music when he was just 15 years old. He took him to his studio to teach him how to create music.
