Emily Marshall Death: How did Emily Marshall die?

Popular tv writer and producer, Emily Marshall who was also known as the secretary for The Tonight Show has been announced dead. She died of lung cancer at her home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, on March 17, 2023. She was 79 years old.

Born in Columbus on March 24, 1943, to a railway executive, Marshall moved to New York and became an NBC guide who sold tickets for the studio tour in the early ’60s to make a living.

She was a secretary for a McMillan & Wife producer at Universal before being hired on The Tonight Show in 1972 as de Cordova’s secretary/assistant.

Marshall also worked for Director CY Howard on Lovers and Other Strangers, and the game show Supermarket Sweep with Producer David Susskind.

She also created 13 episodes of Newhart on CBS, as well as being the writer for Rhoda on the same network. Some of her works also include WKRP in Cincinnati, Angie on ABC, an episode of The Larry Sanders Show on HBO, and more.
