Ian Happ is a professional baseball player who currently plays for the Chicago Cubs in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on August 12, 1994, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Keith Happ and Mary Beth Happ.

Ian Happ’s father Keith Happ died in 2015, after an 18-month battle with brain cancer. The death of his father inspired Ian’s commitment to mental health awareness.
In 2018, the Happs launched the Happ Family Charitable Fund to support mental health awareness and wellness through organizations like Bring Change to Mind and First Tee Greater Chicago.

Ian Happ attended the University of Cincinnati, where he played college baseball for the Bearcats. In 2015, he was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was also a First-Team All-American.
Happ was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2015 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the Cubs on May 13, 2017, and has been a member of the team ever since.
In 2022, Happ finished the season with a career-high 158 games played, hitting .271/.342/.440 with 17 home runs, 72 RBIs, 72 runs, and 42 doubles. He made his first All-Star game and on defence won a Gold Glove Award in left field.
