Grace Berger attended Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, Kentucky. In high school, she was named All-State three times.
Berger, a five-star recruit according to ESPN, chose Indiana over Kentucky, Louisville, and Michigan to play college basketball.
Berger averaged 5.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game as a freshman at Indiana. In her sophomore season, she led the team with 13.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.

During the season, she led the NCAA Division I with three triple-doubles. Berger was named first-team All-Big Ten after averaging 15.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game.
She led Indiana to its first-ever Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2021. She was named first-team All-Big Ten for the third consecutive season as a senior, averaging 16.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game.
Berger represented the United States in the FIBA AmeriCup in 2021. She led her team to a gold medal by averaging 6.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
