As a second-generation Black baseball player, Nick Gordon’s father Tom Gordon was a three-time All-Star pitcher. He is the current radio color commentator for the Boston Red Sox.

Nicholas Chad Gordon was born on October 24, 1995, in Avon Park, Florida, United States of America. Nick Gordon attended Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida. As a junior in 2013, he was the Florida Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year.

Nick Gordon was selected as the fifth overall pick in the first round by the Minnesota Twins. On June 4, 2021,  Nick Gordon hit his first major league home run which was a solo shot off of Kansas City Royals reliever Wade Davis.
