Arnold earned the nickname the “Austrian Oak” during his bodybuilding days. He later retired from bodybuilding at age 33 in 1980.
Arnold broke into Hollywood and starred in several action films such as The Terminator (1984), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Terminator Genisys (2015), and Terminator: Dark Fate (2019).
His other successful action films included Commando (1985), The Running Man (1987), Predator (1987), Red Heat (1988), Total Recall (1990), and True Lies (1994).
Other films he appeared include Kindergarten Cop (1990), Junior (1994), and Jingle All the Way (1996).
Arnold got into politics as a Republican and served as the governor of California between 2003 and 2011.
After politics, he returned to the screens, and has so far written several books on bodybuilding.
