American rapper, Diddy pays English singer-songwriter, Sting $5000 ($4,020 GBP) every single day and it will continue till the end of Diddy’s life. This is because Diddy sampled Sting’s song Every Breathe You Take into one of his (Diddy) most famous songs I’ll Be Missing You.

In a 2018 interview that resurfaced online, Sting was asked if really gets paid a hefty amount for Diddy’s ‘stubbornness’ and he confirmed.

“Is it true that Diddy has to pay you $2000 (1,608 GBP) because he didn’t ask permission to sample Every Breath You Take?” the interviewer, Charlemagne the God asked.

“Yep, for the rest of his life,” Sting replied.

Diddy came to reply to the post, correcting the figure;

“Nope. 5K a day. Love to my brother Sting,” he wrote.

Diddy wrote the song I’ll Be Missing You as a tribute to his longtime friend The Notorious B.I.G. According to him, he wanted to quit music after hearing of the passing of Biggy until he heard Sting’s song which motivated him.

“I was ready to quit; I wasn’t gonna put out any more records. Then I was watching TC one day , you know, one of those times of despair where nobody is around, and you’re like crying on the floor. Then I just heard Every Breath You Take by Police. I just took it as a sign. Sometimes you just need that little bit of light to be able to express yourself,” he said.
