Between 1997 and 2012, Richard John Hatton (sometimes known as Ricky Hatton) was a British professional boxer who also worked as a promoter and trainer. He just announced that he would make a comeback in an exhibition match.

In 1997, Hatton made his professional debut in the Light Welterweight class. He defeated Colin McAuley in his first fight by technical knockout in the first round. Before earning the vacant Central Area Light Welterweight belt, he then recorded 10 successful victories.

Hatton won the British Light-Welterweight championship in 2000. He won the WBU Light Welterweight title the following year. From 2001 to 2004, he made a record-breaking fifteen successful defenses. He unified the WBA Light Welterweight belts in 2005 by defeating Carlos Maussa.
