Sara Beth Liebe left American Idol because she was mom-shamed by Judge Katy Perry. Liebe quit the vocal competition during Sunday night’s Idol episode, claiming she felt guilty for being away from her three young children.

Sara Beth Liebe was one of the most promising contestants on season 21 of ‘American Idol’ who quit the show following her impressive performance during Hollywood Week.
Sara Beth Liebe is a mother of three children, whom she had at a young age. She married her husband when she was 18 and devoted her life to raising her family.

Judge Katy Perry made some comments that many viewers perceived as ‘mom-shaming’. Katy Perry asked Liebe how old she was and how many children she had, before proceeding to say “Wow! You’re a busy girl!”
Katy Perry also joked that Liebe should “get some birth control” and asked her if she still loved her husband. Sara Beth Liebe laughed off Perry’s remarks at the time, however, she later admitted that they were “hurtful” and “embarrassing”.
Despite the awkward audition, Sara Beth Liebe made it to Hollywood Week, where she impressed everyone with her rendition of The Police’s ‘Roxanne’.
After receiving a standing ovation from the judges and her fellow contestants, Liebe dropped a bombshell, announcing that she was quitting ‘American Idol’ and going back home to her family.
