Bob Knight, the legendary former Indiana basketball head coach, was hospitalized over the weekend with an undisclosed illness. Knight’s wife disclosed that he was home recovering from pneumonia.

Bob Knight, who is 82 years old now, led the Hoosiers to three national championships and 11 Big Ten titles in his 29-year tenure at IU. He is also a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the College Basketball Hall of Fame.

According to multiple reports, Knight was admitted to a hospital in Bloomington, Indiana on Friday with an acute illness. His family sent a message to former Indiana basketball players asking for prayers and saying they hoped to have him back home soon.

On Monday, his son Pat Knight released a statement saying that his father was released from the hospital and was resting at home in good hands.

“Coach always taught us, and those that played for him, the importance of fighting through adversity and he and our family thank you for the tremendous amount of support you have shown and given during this time,” the statement read. “We appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers.”

Bob Knight’s health has been a concern for some time, as he has been seen using a wheelchair and struggling with memory issues in recent years.

Bob Knight is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in college basketball history, with 902 career wins and a reputation for producing disciplined and successful teams.
