Lisa Leslie is a retired professional basketball player who is considered one of the greatest female basketball players of all time. She was born on July 7, 1972, in Gardena, California, USA.

Leslie played in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She is a three-time WNBA MVP and a four-time Olympic gold medal winner.

The number-seven pick in the 1997 inaugural WNBA draft, she followed her career at the University of Southern California with eight WNBA All-Star selections and two WNBA championships over the course of 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks, before retiring in 2009.

Leslie was the first player to dunk in a WNBA game. In 2011, she was voted in by fans as one of the Top 15 players in WNBA history.

 

In the WNBA, Lisa Leslie played for the Los Angeles Sparks from 1997 to 2009, winning two WNBA championships in 2001 and 2002. She also played for the United States women’s national basketball team, winning four Olympic gold medals and two FIBA World Cup gold medals.

Lisa Leslie was born in Gardena, California, to her mother Christine Leslie and her father Walter Leslie. Leslie has three siblings. Dionne is Leslie’s older sister by five years, while Tiffany is her younger sister by eight years.

Michael Lockwood is the husband of Lisa Leslie. He is a former Air Force basketball player who is now a real estate developer. Lisa and Michael have been married since November 2005 and have two children together.

Their daughter, Lauren Jolie Lockwood, was born in 2007, and their son, MJ Lockwood, was born in 2010. The couple has been together for many years and has been supportive of each other’s careers and passions.

Lisa Leslie attended Morningside High School in Inglewood, California, where she played basketball and was named the National High School Player of the Year in 1989. She then went on to attend the University of Southern California, where she played for the USC Trojans women’s basketball team and led them to two NCAA championships in 1996 and 1997.

Lisa Leslie is one of the most decorated players in WNBA history, with three MVP awards, eight All-Star selections, and two championships. She was also named to the All-WNBA First Team eight times and the All-Defensive First Team five times. In addition, she was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.

During her 13-year WNBA career, Lisa Leslie played in 363 games, averaging 17.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game.
