Diana Taurasi, one of the best female basketball players of all time, was born in the United States on June 11, 1982.

She now plays for the Phoenix Mercury in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Phoenix selected her in the first round of the 2004 WNBA draft. Taurasi won the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2004.
She also won three WNBA championships (2007, 2009, and 2014), five scoring titles (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011), a record five Olympic gold medals (2004, 2008, 2012, and 2020), one WNBA Most Valuable Player Award, two WNBA Finals MVP Awards (2009, and 2014), and three FIBA World Cups (2010, 2014, and 2018).

She has also been chosen for fourteen All-WNBA teams and ten WNBA All-Star teams (including ten first-team selections).

Jessika is the name of her elder sister. At Don Antonio Lugo High School, Taurasi won the 2000 Cheryl Miller Award, given by the Los Angeles Times to the greatest player in Southern California. Taurasi later attended the same school as the winner of the same award. She was also named the 1999 and 2000 Ms. Basketball State Player of the Year, as well as the 2000 Naismith and Parade Magazine National High School Player of the Year.
