Petteri Orpo, a politician from Finland and the leader of the National Coalition Party was born in Köyliö on November 3, 1969.

Before this, he was Finland’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance from 2016 to 2019, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry from 2014 to 2015, and Minister of the Interior from 2015 to 2016.
Orpo got backing from coalition members in the anti-immigration Finns Party as well as from opposition politicians during his time as interior minister for his handling of the 2015 migratory crisis.

Orpo said in May 2016 that he will run against Alexander Stubb, the leader of the National Coalition Party and the current minister of finance, at the party conference in June.
At the time, Orpo teamed up with Elina Lepomaki, a second-term lawmaker, to run against Stubb.
Orpo was usually seen as a cautious consensus-seeker with limited experience in foreign politics, in contrast to the multilingual and outspoken Stubb.
Stubb earned 361 votes, while Orpo received 441,4 votes, becoming Orpo the new party chair.
