Indian cricketer Salim Durani, who participated in 29 Test matches between 1960 and 1973, died on April 2, 2023 . Durani was a left-handed all-rounder known for his six-hitting ability. He was also a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. Only he was born in Afghanistan among Indian Test cricketers.

The series victory India had over England in 1961–1962 was attributed to Durani. In their victories at Chennai and Kolkata, respectively, he grabbed 8 and 10 wickets.
