Francis Sinatra was an American singer and actor who lived from December 12, 1915, until May 14, 1998. Sinatra was one of the most well-liked entertainers of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. He was known as the “Chairman of the Board” and later as “Ol’ Blue Eyes.” With an estimated 150 million record sales, he is one of the best-selling musicians in the world.

Born to Italian immigrants in Hoboken, New Jersey, Sinatra started his musical career in the swing era with bandleaders Harry James and Tommy Dorsey. He was immensely influenced by Bing Crosby’s warm, approachable vocal style. After signing with Columbia Records in 1943, he became a solo success and the “bobby soxers’” hero. The Voice of Frank Sinatra, Sinatra’s debut album, was published in 1946.

Frank Sinatra Obituary

The funeral for Frank Sinatra was held at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills on May 20, 1998, six days after his passing.

But at the time of his passing, Sinatra’s transgressions including his ties to organized crime had vanished from public view. He recorded duets with younger vocalists in 1993 and 1996, which helped him win over a new generation of followers.

He was honored on national television on the occasion of his 80th birthday in front of an elite group from Hollywood. In the end, only Ol’ Blue Eyes mattered; he was the quintessential crooner who established the bar by which all of his contemporaries will be measured going forward.
