On April 16, 2005, at UFC 52, Chuck Liddell fought Randy Couture a second time for the light heavyweight title. On May 9, 2007, Chuck Liddell became the first UFC fighter to be on the cover of ESPN The Magazine.

Chuck Liddell entered the Pride 2003 Middleweight Grand Prix tournament as the official UFC representative where he defeated Muay Thai specialist Alistair Overeem in the first round of the tournament.
