Marti Pellow had a brother called John McLachlan. Pellow’s brother died on March 15, 2011, at his Dalmuir, Clydebank, Glasgow home.

Marti, who has himself battled back from heroin and alcohol addictions had supported his brother as he tried to beat his booze.

Pellow was the lead singer of the Scottish pop group, Wet Wet Wet for 28 years: from their formation in 1982 until they split in 1997, and again from their reformation in 2004 to his departure in 2017.
Pellow began his career as a solo artist with Chris Difford of Squeeze. The two met while they were patients in The Priory in March 1999. In 2021, he confirmed releasing a new single, “These Are the Days” and the album Stargazer.
