What happened to Teri Shields?

American actress and model, Teri Shields died on October 31, 2012 after suffering a prolonged illness relating to dementia. She was 79 years old at the time of death.

Her daughter, actress Brooke Shields, shared a heartfelt message after her demise.

“My mother was an enormous part of  my life and of who I am today. I loved her, laughed with her, and respected her. And although she had her share of struggles, she was my mom,” Brooke shared.

Following heavy criticisms towards Teri after her death, Brooke shared that it was quite inappropriate to ‘hate’ her mother because of making her (Brooke) get involved in several explicit content when she was very young (as at 11 years).

Teri was also the manager of Brooke up until the point where Brooke left her in 1995.

“I had to leave her because of her addiction. If I had a manager now, they wouldn’t last five minutes if they were an alcoholic. It was long overdue. I needed to grab the reins and make my own mistakes,” she said.
