Roger Clemens Parents: Meet Bill Clemens, Bess Clemens

Roger Clemens is a retired American professional baseball player who played in the Major League Baseball (MLB) for 24 seasons from 1984 to 2007.

Roger Clemens was is the son of Bill Clemens and Bess Clemens. Roger Clemens was the fifth child of his parents.

He is of German ancestry; his great-grandfather, Joseph Clemens, immigrated to the United States in the 1880s. Roger Clemens’ parents divorced when he was a baby. Clemens’ mother soon married Woody Booher, whom he considers to be his father.

Roger Clemens was nine years old when Booher died, and he has stated that the only time he ever felt envious of other players was when he saw them in the clubhouse with their fathers.

Roger Clemens grew up in Vandalia, Ohio, until 1977, when he moved to Houston, Texas, for the majority of his high school years. Clemens attended Spring Woods High School and played baseball for longtime head coach Charles Maiorana as well as football and basketball.

Roger Clemens made his MLB debut in 1984 with the Red Sox, where he anchored the pitching staff for 12 years.
