The Oyler house was designed by renowned architect, Richard Neutra. The house is named after Richard Olyer who is a World War II veteran and Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was a government employee working in Lone Pine, California in 1959 when he decided to ask Richard Neutra to design his house.

With a limited budget, Neutra, however, designed and created an iconic mid-century modern masterpiece in his distinctive post-and-bean style house.
