Willie Bell, a Leeds legend, died in March 2023, aged 85 The former defender died at home surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.

A statement from Leeds read: “Our thoughts are with Willie’s widow Pat, his three children, Bill, Andrew and Caroline, and his seven grandchildren, along with his friends at this difficult time.”
Many of the club’s supporters have taken to social media to share their condolences.
One tweeted: “Rip Willie”. A second wrote: “The thoughts of everyone at LUFC are with the friends and family of former defender Willie Bell, who has sadly passed away at 85”.

Willie Bell was a left back for Queen’s Park Rangers, Leeds United, Leicester City, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Scotland.
Bell represented Scotland at various levels at international level, including being called up twice for full-international duty. His international career included a 1-1 tie with Brazil at Hampden Park in 1966.
After retiring from playing, he went on to manage Birmingham City and Lincoln City.In 1979, Bell moved to the United States and started coaching at Liberty University until he retired.
