Mims had a fruitful career as a wide receiver while playing collegiate football for Baylor University.
In 2017, Mims excelled as a sophomore, starting 11 of the 12 games and finishing with 61 receptions, 1,087 yards, and eight touchdowns.

His junior year saw him keep up the good work, starting 10 of the 12 games and finishing with 55 receptions, 794 yards, and 8 touchdowns.
Mims had 66 receptions for 1,020 yards and 12 touchdowns during his senior season, starting all 13 games and having a huge influence in the Sugar Bowl matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs.
The New York Jets selected Mims in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 59th overall. But he had a hamstring injury in training camp, and in September, the team put him on injured reserve.
