North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has two brothers – Kim Jong-nam, and Kim Jong-chul.

Kim Jong-nam was the older half brother of Kim Jong-Un. He was considered the heir apparent, but he was assassinated in 2017.

Kim Jong-chul is the older biological brother of Kim Jong-Un. He was appointed deputy chief of a leadership division of the Workers’ Party of Korea in 2007.

Kim has five other siblings, two brothers and three sisters.

He is a son of Kim Jong-il, the country’s second supreme leader who ruled from 1994 to 2011, and the grandson of Kim Il-sung, the founder and first supreme leader of North Korea.

After his father’s death in 2011, Kim became his successor, and presided over the affairs of the state.

Kim belongs to the Presidium of the WPK Politburo, the highest decision-making body, and holds the highest rank of Marshal in the Korean People’s Army.

Kim is a totalitarian and a dictator, just like his founding fathers and had previously been charged for crimes against humanity by the United Nations Human Rights Council, following the killing of several North Korean officials in 2014, the assassination of his half-brother, Kim Jong-nam, in Malaysia, in 2017, and many other crimes.

Kim is known for expanding North Korea’s nuclear program and for combatting the COVID-19 pandemic in the country during its outbreak.
