Fibroids, which are noncancerous growths in the uterus, do not typically cause abnormal discharge. However, other conditions such as endometriosis or cervical cancer can cause abnormal vaginal discharge. The colour and consistency of the discharge can vary depending on the underlying cause and other factors.

It could be brown, pinkish, or red. This can last a couple of days or a couple of weeks. It is unusual, although it can happen, to experience fibroids tissue discharge after minimally invasive fibroid therapy. Even if it does, there might not necessarily be a problem.

What is the difference between fibroids and endometriosis?

Fibroids and endometriosis are two different conditions that affect the uterus and can cause similar symptoms, but they have different causes and treatments.

Fibroids, also referred to as uterine leiomyomas, are benign growths that form in the uterine muscle. Most women with fibroids do not have symptoms, despite the fact that they are highly common. Yet, for certain women, fibroids can result in symptoms including intense menstrual bleeding, pelvic pressure or pain, and others. Although the specific reason for fibroids is uncertain, it is believed that hormone fluctuations are a contributing factor.

Endometriosis is a disorder where tissue that ordinarily lines the uterus develops elsewhere, often on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or the pelvic lining. Similar to the lining of the uterus, this tissue reacts to hormone fluctuations in a way that might result in inflammation, scarring, and pain.  Endometriosis can cause symptoms such as pelvic pain, painful periods, painful intercourse, and infertility. The exact cause of endometriosis is unknown.
