Makoto Hasebe is a professional footballer who plays the centre-back and defensive midfielder positions for Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Born on January 18, 1984, in Japan, Hasebe played for the Japan national team, and served as captain in two World Cup matches.

Hasebe joined the Urawa Reds in 2002, where he won the J.League Cup New Hero Award and was selected as a member of J.League team of the year 2004.

He also became the Urawa Fans’ Player of the Year that season.

Afterwards, Hasebe played for VfL Wolfsburg, FC Nürnberg, and now, Eintracht Frankfurt.

Hasebe began playing for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2014. In 2022, his contract with the team was extended till 2027.
