Mike Brey is an American college basketball coach and the current head men’s basketball coach at the University of South Florida.

Mike Brey did not play at Duke University. He did, however, coach at Duke. In 1987, he was hired by Duke University to assist Mike Krzyzewski.
Although Mike Brey didn’t play at Duke, he played at Northwestern State University for three years (1977–1980). After sitting out the 1980-81 season as a transfer, he played one season at George Washington in 1981-82.
He was named team captain and most valuable player for the Colonials, averaging 5.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Mike Brey was the head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s basketball team from 2000 o 2023.
During his time as head coach, he guided the Irish through their most sustained period of success. Notre Dame has made the postseason in 18 of its 21 seasons, with 13 NCAA tournament berths, three Sweet 16 trips, two Elite Eight appearances, and a 2015 ACC Championship.
Mike Brey is the winningest men’s basketball coach in school history, and he is the only Irish head coach to reach 400 wins under the Golden Dome.
