Dave Gardner Cause of Death

NHL veteran Dave Gardener passed away on March 20, 2023, after suffering from complications from a blood infection. He was aged 70.

Gardner played the centre position during his days with the Toronto Marlboros juniors.

He was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in 1972.

As an ice-hockey player, Dave also played with the St. Michael’s College Buzzers in the Metro junior league, scoring 54 goals.

He won the Red Tilson Trophy and was named Ontario Hockey League’s top scorer at the time.

Fave played alongside Steve Shutt and Billy Harris, carving out 36 games and later playing for St. Louis and the California Golden Seals, which was eventually changed to Cleveland Barons.

Dave retired from the game after a stint with the Philadelphia Flyers, in the late 1980s. His son, Ryan, also played in the OHL and Europe.

Dave was inducted into the Sports Hall Of Fame before he died.

“Dave was a great brother, son, father and grandfather,” Paul said in a social media post.

“I was lucky to have him as an older brother who taught me so much. He was a gifted athlete in all sports. In hockey, he was a tremendous puck handler and playmaker. He loved golf and was probably happiest being on a course”, he added.
