Kelvin Sampson Wife: Who is Karen Lowery

Karen Lowery is the wife of Kelvin Sampson an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach of the American Athletic Conference’s University of Houston.

Kelvin Sampson and his wife Karen Lowry have two children; Kellen Sampson and Lauren Sampson. Kelvin Sampson met his wife, Karen Lowery, in history class at Pembroke High School, where his father was a teacher.

“I remember Kelvin calling me at home for the first time,” Karen Sampson told The Oklahoman in 1999. “He inquired about our history assignment,” Karen remarked that Kelvin’s pick-up line was lame because his father taught history.

Karen, on the other hand, accepted Sampson’s dates and they married six years later.  While Kelvin has dedicated his life to basketball, Karen has dedicated her life to teaching.

According to a press release from the UNC Pembroke Board of Trustees, of which Karen has been a member since 2018, she graduated with honours with a degree in Early Childhood Education and taught before moving to East Lansing, Michigan.

Kelvin is extremely proud of his marriage to his wife, telling The Robesonian in 2015 that she helps him focus on his job.
