Ed Cooley is an American college basketball coach and the current head coach of the Providence College Friars men’s basketball team.

Ed Cooley and his wife Nurys Cooley have two children: Olivia and Isaiah. Ed Cooley’s daughter Olivia graduated from Moses Brown in 2019.

Ed Cooley began his coaching career at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. He contributed to UMass-25-4 Dartmouth’s record and No. 3 national ranking (1994-95).

Before joining Skinner’s staff at URI, he returned to his alma mater, Stonehill, as an assistant coach for one season (1995-96).

Ed Cooley took over as head coach of Fairfield University in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 2006. Cooley’s teams went 92-69 overall and 58-32 in the conference over five seasons.

Ed Cooley became Providence College’s 15th head coach on March 22, 2011. Ed Cooley has a 221-141 record in 11 seasons at Providence College, including six NCAA Tournament appearances, a Sweet 16 berth (2022), a BIG EAST Regular Season Title (2022), and a BIG EAST Tournament Title (2014).
