Rick Pitino, the current head basketball coach at Iona College in New York, is reportedly leaving Iona to take the head coaching job at St. John’s, according to Fox Sports’ John Fanta.

However, Rick Pitino, told reporters that he isn’t sure if his time with Iona is over after they lost to UConn in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday, March 17, 2023.
Pitino has recently expressed doubts about leaving and stated that he would only leave Iona for a “special place.”

Rick Pitino was named head coach of Iona College on March 14, 2020, after Tim Cluess resigned on March 13 due to health issues.
Since becoming head coach, Rick Pitino has led the Gaels to two NCAA tournament appearances and a 64-21 record in three seasons.
In addition to winning the MAAC tournament for the second time in a row, Iona won the regular season for the second time in a row in 2022.
RickPitino previously had success at Louisville, Kentucky, and Providence, where he won two national championships and appeared in seven Final Fours.
