Cox poisoned Jacqueline Gold’s soup with screenwash in order to incriminate Gold’s personal chef whom Cox had an issue with. According to the CEO, she became suspicious when her food started tasting too salty or too sugary than usual.

The defendant was employed as a nanny by Jacqueline Cunningham to look after her daughter. Also within the household was a cook responsible for providing the family’s meals and there was, it seems, some animosity from the defendants towards the cook. This caused the defendant to put certain articles including screenwash, salt, and sugar into food articles consumed by Miss Gold,” a prosecutor named Rachel Davies said.

Cox was initially charged with two other counts of poising Miss Gold with salt and sugar but those charges were later dropped from the indictment. She was released on unconditional bail until sentencing on March 4, 2011.
