Michael Caine Health: What condition does Michael Suffer from?

Sir Michael Caine CBE  an English actor considered as a British film icon suffers from spinal stenosis. Michael’s wife Shakira told the Daily Mail in March 2022 that he had a back operation.

Michael Caine previously spoke out about his back issues in October 2021, in comments that sparked speculation that he was set to retire.

Speaking of his role alongside Aubrey Plaza in the comedy “Best Sellers,” he told BBC podcast “Kermode and Mayo’s Film Review”: “Funnily enough, it has turned out to be what is my last part. Because I haven’t worked for two years, and I have a spine problem which affects my legs, so I can’t walk very well.”

Spinal stenosis occurs when the spaces between the bones in your spine narrow, putting pressure on the nerves that run through them. This can impair a person’s ability to walk, as well as affect their balance and cause numbness.

It can also cause arm and leg weakness, as well as lower back pain when standing. Sitting down can help relieve symptoms, but they will most likely return when you stand up.

The surgery Michael underwent is typically only offered if the condition impairs his ability to walk, control his bowel or bladder, or perform other daily activities.
