The first Oscar he won was for his role in the 1986 film “Hannah and Her Sisters.” In the film, Caine portrayed Elliot, a successful writer who falls in love with his wife’s sister, Lee.

Caine’s portrayal of the charming but conflicted character earned him critical acclaim and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Michael Caine’s second Oscar win was for his role in the 1999 film “The Cider House Rules.” In the film, Caine played Dr Wilbur Larch, a compassionate doctor who runs an orphanage in Maine and performs illegal abortions.

Aside from the Oscar Sir Michael Caine has been honoured with a BAFTA, three Golden Globe Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Caine’s roles in films have grossed over $7.8 billion worldwide as of 2017. Caine is one of only five male actors to have received Academy Award nominations for acting in five different decades.

In 2000, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to cinema and received a BAFTA Fellowship.
