Born on May 23, 1977, Craig made his first race in 1993, and won the Melbourne Cup in 2019.

In 2011, Craig won the Caulfield Cup, and Cox Plate on Southern Speed and Pinker Pinker respectively, during the Bendigo Cup.

During the 2012 Caulfield Cup, Craig rode the horse Dunaden and achieved a victory, with a weight of 58 kg.

Before then, no horse had ever won the Caulfield Cup from wider than barrier 15.

As of 2021, Craig had ridden 1,939 winners, including 61 G1 winners. He is also a five-time winner of the Scobie Breasley Medal.

Craig and fellow jockey champion Jamie Kah were recently involved in a race fall at Flemington.

Kah had become unconscious almost immediately, while Craig sustained a fractured collarbone, broken ribs, fractured finger and concussion.

Craig is now hospitalized at The Alfred hospital.
